Each jewel is handcrafted through meticulous precision and dedication. Every crystal - less than one millimeter in size must be arranged with exceptional care to preserve its natural color, structure, and most importantly, its brilliance. At the same time, durability and strength must be ensured.
Wine Diamond is created through an original concept and method developed by Tamar Abuladze.
The technique continues to evolve and become increasingly refined. This method is protected by the National Intellectual Property Center of Georgia - “Sakpatenti.”
The Idea That Made History
The story of Wine Diamond begins in 2020, during the global pandemic - a period when the world was struggling for survival and preparing for major changes.
At that time, I had just completed wine school, where I first learned about the existence of wine crystals, also known as tartrates. At the time I was creating jewelry from natural stones inspired by grape motifs. One ordinary evening, during a casual conversation, the idea emerged: to create jewelry from wine crystals.
I immediately contacted experienced winemakers I knew, who told me that binding wine crystals together into durable jewelry was impossible. From that very moment, I set myself a goal: to bring my vision to life, even if only to prove that it was not absurd and that wine jewelry could indeed be created.
I began searching for information about this type of jewelry and discovered that no such information existed on the global web - nothing similar had ever been created before. This discovery strengthened my determination.
What followed were countless failed experiments, sleepless nights, disappointment, reflection, and persistent work. I felt I had embarked on something significant. I often recalled the perseverance of Henry Ford and Thomas Edison in bringing their ideas to life.
After three months of dedicated effort, the result was achieved. The first Georgian Kvevri wine jewelry was created - not only in Georgia, but worldwide. It was a great honor, because if Georgia had long been recognized as the homeland of wine, it now became the homeland of wine jewelry as well. Accepting this responsibility was not easy. Gradually, the technique, color, structure, and design were refined.
This journey became a turning point in my consciousness. From that day forward, I committed to creating even more innovative things. I have never dismissed ideas, even those that initially seem impossible.
I found the main credo of my life: to create what is different, to never surrender, and to fight for the ideas born in my mind and heart.

What Is a Wine Crystal?
These small crystals - known to oenologists as tartrates, to wine lovers as wine stones, and sometimes called wine diamonds - are potassium salts of tartaric acid. Tartaric acid naturally originates from grapes and is present in all wines, contributing to structure, balance, and aroma.
These crystals form in Kvevri, bottles, or tanks when wine temperature drops sharply. Resembling diamonds, they settle at the bottom of the vessel or on the cork and never dissolve back into the wine.
Both tartaric acid and potassium occur naturally in wine. Potassium is a beneficial element; the richer the wine in potassium, the more beneficial it is considered to be.
The color of the crystal comes from wine pigments - anthocyanins. The shade corresponds to the wine itself: Rkatsiteli produces yellowish crystals, while Saperavi produces deep violet ones.
It is important to note, that it was precisely the discovery of wine stone in ancient Kvevri that confirmed Georgia as the homeland of wine, proving that Georgians were producing wine 8,000 years ago.
Social Responsibility
From its founding, Wine Diamond has embraced its responsibility toward the environment, society, and Georgian cultural heritage.
Wine crystals are typically considered waste material and despite containing many beneficial elements, they are usually discarded by winemakers. However, we saw diamonds in them.
After the creation of Wine Diamond, this perspective changed and today, winemakers actively collect many unique crystals for us. Each wishes to grant immortality to their wine by transforming it into jewelry.
Our experience shows: the finer the wine, the more brilliant and beautiful the crystals. Wine crystals are thus a natural indicator of wine quality.
We do not often speak about this, but we are very happy that our income allows us to do good for others who greatly need support.
For years, a portion of our monthly income has been donated to Hospice “Feritsvaleba,” which provides care and compassion to elderly individuals suffering from severe illnesses and lacking family support.
We hope more companies will embrace this approach. Such actions give us even greater motivation to work more diligently and grow, so that we can do much more for others.

The brand strives to promote Georgia and its ancient culture internationally, while showcasing its 525+ endemic grape varieties and collecting the widest possible range of wine crystals for creating unique jewelry. We currently hold the largest and rarest collection of Georgian wine crystals, which continues to grow each year. Special attention is given to the most ancient and rare Georgian grape varieties.
Wine Diamond has participated in numerous charitable projects. Among our proudest charitable moments was the presentation of our jewelry in Washington at a closed auction organized by American Councils for International Education, supporting American students studying abroad.

• 2025 - Wine Diamond participated in the annual wine festival “Somm’Up 2025” in Nice, organized by the French Riviera Sommelier Association.
• 2025 - The most significant event in the brand’s history occurred: The New York Times discovered Wine Diamond and dedicated an extensive article to it in its luxury jewelry section, where Wine Diamond was presented alongside Cartier, Tiffany & Co., Chanel, Bulgari, and other famous brands.
• It is noteworthy that Wine Diamond is the first Georgian brand to be published in one of the world’s leading newspapers.
• Our jewelry is owned by legendary actresses including Sophia Loren, Ornella Muti, Simona Cavallari, and others.

Discover Georgia - The Homeland of Wine Jewelry
Georgia is a small yet ancient country, with historical references dating back to the 6th century BC. It borders the Black Sea to the west and is guarded by the Caucasus Mountains to the north. The first humans lived on its territory as early as 1.8 million years ago. By the 3rd century BC, Georgians already had their own alphabet.
Georgia’s pride lies in its uninterrupted 8,000-year winemaking tradition. Georgia has more than 525 endemic grape varieties and its own traditional winemaking method in Kvevri (clay vessels), which gives wine its amber color and adds special magic. This method is inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
Wine is connected to the ancient Georgian tradition of the supra (feast), led by a tamada (toastmaster). The amada is a respected figure whose toasts and stories are listened to attentively by all.
The ancient culture and history of Georgians are reflected in polyphonic folk songs performed in multiple voices. In 2001, Georgian polyphony was recognized by UNESCO as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. In 1977, the Georgian song “Chakrulo” was sent into space aboard NASA’s Voyager spacecraft.
One of the most remarkable symbols of Georgian identity is its unique alphabet - an original writing system found nowhere else in the world, dating back to at least the 3rd century BC. It consists of 33 letters and is fully phonetic, each representing a distinct sound. In 2016, the Georgian alphabet was inscribed by UNESCO on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, recognized as a living cultural treasure and a symbol of Georgia’s enduring identity.
