Georgia is celebrated as the Cradle of Wine, with archaeological evidence of winemaking dating back approximately 8,000 years.
The remarkable discovery of tartaric acid and tartrate residues in ancient Georgian clay vessels helped establish this extraordinary history. These wine-related compounds are closely connected to the natural phenomenon that gives us our precious wine crystals today.
At the heart of Georgian winemaking stands the qvevri - a traditional, egg-shaped clay vessel buried underground, where wine ferments and matures. This ancient winemaking tradition was recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2013.
But what exactly is a wine crystal?
Often called a wine diamond or wine stone, it is a natural crystal of potassium bitartrate that forms in wine over time. Once overlooked as sediment, these delicate formations reveal extraordinary beauty, with naturally occurring colors ranging from the golden shades of Rkatsiteli to the deep purple tones of Saperavi.

The Woman Who Made the Impossible Possible
Wine Diamond was conceived during the COVID-19 pandemic by Georgian entrepreneur Tamar Abuladze, at a time when the world was struggling for survival and searching for hope.
Tamar imagined something no one around her believed could be achieved: transforming fragile wine crystals into durable, wearable jewelry while preserving their natural beauty and colors.
Experienced winemakers considered the idea impossible. Yet after countless experiments, failures, and years of determination, Tamar developed her own innovative method and brought her vision to life.
Today, the results speak for themselves.
Tamar has worn her own Wine Diamond creations continuously for six years. They remain beautiful, and she dreams of one day passing them down to her grandchildren.

Every Wine Diamond creation is genuinely unique.
Even when two pieces share exactly the same design, their natural crystals will never be identical. Each crystal has its own shape, formation, color, and character - created by nature, never duplicated by human hands.
Our crystals are also available in limited quantities, collected from particular wines and harvest years.
Once the crystals from a specific harvest are gone, that exact natural creation can never be reproduced.
This makes every Wine Diamond piece more than jewelry. It is a rare, irreplaceable memory of a particular wine, a particular harvest, and a moment in time.

In 2022, Wine Diamond was presented at a six-day exhibition in Manhattan, New York City, introducing this Georgian innovation to an international audience.
The brand's journey has also included memorable connections with legendary actresses Sophia Loren and Ornella Muti, and internationally celebrated singer Lara Fabian.
